One of the main hallways of S&C’s Chicago campus is dedicated to milestones in its 100+ year history. When the “history hallway” was first installed, the photos and copy were vinyl cut outs placed directly onto a painted wall. Over time, a few issues developed: (1) Varying temperature in the hallway caused the vinyl to pull away from the wall (2) Facilities could not paint/repair the wall and (3) The vinyl was becoming damaged by people brushing up against the wall.
As the Manager – Creative Services I was the creative director and project manager to ensure a new solution was developed to better represent S&C’s history while fixing known issues with the original application.
The history content was laid onto 37 diabond panels improving visibility, readability, durability and flexibility to move/relocate if needed.
In the photo mock up, the year panels in the distance show the former solution while the items in the foreground represent the new solution.
